FOR PARENTS, CAREGIVERS & EDUCATORS

A Playful Way to Build Early Vocabulary

Whether you're a parent at home or an educator in the classroom, XpressUP gives young children a simple, symbol-first way to learn new words.

What Is XpressUP?

XpressUP is a symbol-based language learning app built for young children. It uses a library of 412 text-free picture symbols across 24 everyday categories, so children can explore vocabulary visually before they can read — tapping a picture to hear the word spoken aloud, in whichever of 9 languages their family is learning.

It's designed to be simple enough for a child to explore independently, and clear enough for a parent, caregiver, or teacher to guide a lesson around.

How XpressUP Supports Early Learning

🧩

Visual Vocabulary First

Symbols let a child connect a picture to a word before reading is required — a well-established approach in early language and AAC learning.

🌍

Multilingual Households

Switch between 9 languages so children learning more than one language at home can practice each one with the same familiar symbols.

📝

Low-Pressure Practice

Knowledge Check quizzes use fuzzy speech scoring, so a child's genuine attempt is recognized as a win — building confidence, not anxiety.

📱

Fits Any Setting

A responsive design that works equally well for one-on-one time on a phone or a shared lesson on a classroom tablet.

Where Families & Educators Use XpressUP

🏠 At Home

Parents use XpressUP for a few minutes a day to introduce new words alongside daily routines — mealtime, getting dressed, bedtime.

🗣️ Multilingual Families

Households speaking more than one language use XpressUP to reinforce vocabulary in each language with the same consistent symbols.

🏫 In the Classroom

Educators use category browsing to build simple vocabulary lessons around a theme — animals, colors, or feelings — for a small group or the whole class.

🧑‍⚕️ Alongside Therapy

Speech-language professionals and caregivers use XpressUP's symbol library as a supplementary tool for building expressive vocabulary.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does my child need to know how to read?

No. Every symbol is a text-free picture, so XpressUP works for children who aren't reading yet.

Do I need to upload a photo of my child?

No. XpressUP uses preset avatars across a range of ages and styles — no camera roll access or photo upload is required.

What languages does XpressUP support?

English, Spanish, French, Hindi, Tamil, Bengali, Chinese, Japanese, and Portuguese, with more being added regularly.

Is XpressUP a replacement for speech therapy?

No. XpressUP is a learning and practice tool. It's designed to support vocabulary building at home or in the classroom, not to replace guidance from a speech-language professional.
